NFUCA is the federation of University Co-ops in Japan. Number of Member Co-ops count 228 (212 Primary co-ops, 6 Inter-college co-ops, 10 Business Associations).
University Co-ops in Japan, historically placing importance on joint activities and efforts, conduct activities learning and helping one another. Joint activities and efforts are implemented locally and nationally.
As the national center, NFUCA promotes exchanges among member organizations beyond regional boundaries, coordinates businesses/activities, offers training, draws up and submits nationwide policies, conducts public relations and international relations, and negotiates with government.
The Board of Directors of NFUCA consists of students, faculty, staff and co-op staff. They are elected, along with Auditors, at the General Assembly which is the highest decision making body of NFUCA. Under the Board of Directors, NFUCA holds member committees (student, graduate student, international student and faculty staff), business management committee.
University Co-ops in Japan are divided into 10 regions, and in each region one Local Center is allocated. They are Hokkaido, Tohoku, Tokyo, Tokai, Hokuriku, Keiji Nara, Osaka/Wakayama, Kobe, Chugoku Shikoku, and Kyushu. 212 primary co-ops, 6 inter-college co-ops and 10 business associations belong to any of Local Centers.
Each Local Center gives support, offers training and promotes exchanges for member organizations in the region. It also helps the establishment of University Co-op.
In line with the demands of member co-ops, Business Associations take on joint purchase of food and other products, editing/publishing catalogs, proposals for business management, proposals for staff exchanges, management accounting and system design.
