Asahi Hall Dining Hall, Matsumoto Campus

A dining hall with the warmth of wood; the four-seat table can be moved to accommodate a larger group

Shinshu University has five campuses in the Nagano Prefecture. First-year students study in Matsumoto and then move to their respective faculty campuses. The dining hall is located on the south side of the Matsumoto Campus. It is mainly used by those in the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Science.

Before the renovation, it had 232 seats. 53 more tables were added on the window and wall sides to accommodate peak hours. Even so, there are days when we have more than 460 customers per hour, and we are considering adding more tables.

The noodle/donburi corner and the cafeteria used to operate alternately from 10:30 to 19:30, but after the renovation, all corners will open at 11:00 and close midway between 14:00 and 16:30. This is partly with the intention of making a solid transition to dinner. Dinner is now served in the style of separate dishes, side dishes, and both noodles and rice bowls. Since we were not able to serve noodles at dinner before, the change was very well received and led to an increase in the number of dinners served.

We will continue to work hard to create a dining hall that reflects the opinions of our members.

Faculty of Agriculture Dining Hall, Ina Campus

A dining hall with the warmth of wood; the four-seat table can be moved to accommodate a larger group

The Ina Campus, where the dining hall is located, is attended by second-year students and above of the Faculty of Agriculture.

The dining hall was opened as a branch of the then Shinshu University Matsumoto Co-op after a movement to establish a co-op in 1970s. The building itself has been in existence since the days of the Purchasing Association before the establishment of the Co-op. The co-op store was partially renovated in 2002, but the dining hall has not undergone any major renovations.

In this project, we changed the kitchen facilities to a cafeteria type facility. In addition, the installation of air conditioning in the kitchen and the efficient placement of equipment have made it a more comfortable working environment than before.

After the renovation, we have received positive comments from the co-op members saying that the campus has become brighter. Although we are a small campus, we will continue to put forth our best efforts to meet everyone's expectations.
