Tohoku University has 7 campuses. A co-op dining hall is located in each campus, which is used by a lot of students and faculty staff. The dining halls provide a reliable support for campus life. Of course, the ingredients are chosen carefully according to the existing standard and the dining halls pay enough attention to people with allergies, such as buckwheat allergy. They always hold activities such as 'Dinner Match' to decide what to put on the menu. Everybody participates in the decision-making process!
I study at Faculty of Arts and Letters, so I always use the dining hall in Kawauchi Campus. I really recommend Kitchen Terrace Couleur, which took a form of cafe. It has a warm atmosphere and offers mainly Western food. It also provides water with lemon free of charge, which I haven't found yet in other dining halls. In period other than winter, I always have lunch outdoors in Kawauchi-Kita Campus. When I eat with my friends under the trees with sunshine filtering through the leaves and forget about the scorching heat, I always feel that I want to spend my life in the university.
